The Carolina Rum Cake Story

 “It’s in the blood,” as they say, and for John MacGregor that blood runs deep. John’s passion for creating thoughtful and authentic cuisine dates back over a century. John’s great grandmother A. Boresi, a renowned chef in Modena, Italy was famous for her lavishly catered weddings. And John’s grandparents continued the tradition with an unassuming Italian restaurant in Des Moines, IA that was a neighborhood staple for over five decades. For the MacGregor clan food has always been about quality, about fresh ingredients, and above all else, about family. And in the two-plus decades John, his wife and two children have called the Lowcountry home, he has remained immersed in the hospitality industry. But throughout that time, he has always been driven by the deep desire to do something more. After sharing tastes of his specialty rum cake with some of Charleston’s finest food and beverage professionals, the Carolina Rum Cake Company was born. CRCC is dedicated to creating delicious tasting, handcrafted, artisanal rum cakes using only the finest all natural ingredients.
